Winter Porridge Recipe

This winter porridge breakfast makes peeling yourself out of a warm bed that bit easier. We've been making it every morning the past week before the markets or to fuel a big bake day. The creamy oats with winter spices, sweet fruit and crunchy nut butter on top will be something to look forward to on dark mornings. 

 Serves: 2

Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

100g Irish rolled oats

1 tbsp flaxseed

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp ginger

Pinch of nutmeg

1 tsp blackstrap mollasses

Splash of milk of choice

To top: sliced banana, pomegranate, nut butter, maple syrup

Method:

Put the oats, spices, flaxseeds and 450ml hot water in a pot. Heat over a medium heat, constantly stirring for 3 minutes. When the porridge is close to done, stir in the blackstrap molasses and a splash of your milk of choice. Divide between two bowls, top with fruit, nut butter & maple syrup and dig in!
